FTLComm - Saskatoon - July 16, 1998
Half of all new houses under construction are being built in Saskatoon. This scene
is of a newly developed neighbourhood on the City's East side. Immediately South
of John Avant Park is a whole subdivision being hammered into shape. The houses
in this scene, though a little upscale from modest, do not exceed $600,000. Though
this seems like a lot, it is relative to location, were these houses located in Vancouver,
they would be valued at much more then $1,000,000. The use of water, fountains and
green space has become a standard feature of urban life in this decade reflecting
the attitude people have toward the environment in which they choose to live. The
jogging paths in summer and a skating oval in winter not only add to the recreational
value of the location but the water and reflection add dramatically to the visual
appeal. This QuickTime VR panorama
was taken at 9:30 catching the sunset and low evening light.
