Cloud Painting

FTLComm - Tisdale - November 16, 1999
When you see one of these spectacular sunsets developing and the sun is on fast forward toward the horizon, it is hard to judge just what time will afford the most memorable scene. The picture above and the one below were taken about ten minute apart. The one above is just West of Tisdale on Highway #3 as you can see a car on the extreme right. This is a composite image of two pictures combined to give a better vista of the experience.

This picture is taken from North of Tisdale and by now the sky is more fully lit as the sun is lower. Below, is a three quarter panorama beginning facing South and ending facing due East. (did not complete the circle as the flash activated and totalled the batteries at the 3/4 mark) The camera reads the light and adjusts itself accordingly and hence the difference from image to image. This pictures are blended with software and the colour differences become part of the resulting panorama. Since I was standing right beside the van the image becomes most distorted as I pass by things in the closest forground. (To see the image below you need to have QuickTime in your computer which can be downloaded and installed free)
