Tisdale: Environment Canada is predicting near seasonal temperatures by Sunday and that makes it time to put the seed in the ground. Close to town there were tractors in the field and applying fertilizer as well as harrowing already seaded fields.

Tisdale: Two new basements were begun on Monday making it four new houses for this year around the new cul-de-sac, Forester and Newmarket. SaskPower working in the same area putting in underground electrical service and contractors going flat out.

Tisdale: Both CN and CP had trains rolling through Tisdale this morning. The CP train was more than a mile long mix of loaded grain block and a good number of hemical cars. The four units had a tough time getting little more than 30kph.

Tisdale: In front of a newly dug basement on the new cul-de-sac where the new water and sewer lines were installed only months ago, the town dug up the brand new fire hydrant and began making repairs to a line that has never been used.

Tisdale: To install water and sewer service into a duplex requires twice the digging for a single family dwelling. The town began the process of installing those services in the new duplex on 95th Street today but were unable to complete the project by the end of the working day.

Tisdale: Though the new media response to the latest flu making its rounds has bordered on hysteria the public health officials across the country have had an opportunity to put into affect the things they learned in the Toronto SARs outbreak. We are all going to benefit from this as public awareness about how airborne infections are spread making our world a safer one.

Tisdale: South of Tisdale the fields seemed littered with tractors parked and hitched to seeding equipment. The slate sky, the threat of more rain or snow, freezing temperatures all seem to have put a damper on this years planting.

As part of the Special Olympics fund raising a bunch of cool folks jumped off the ice in to the frozen lake as part of the Victoria Day weekend activities. Ensign is glad to have this story from Kevin whom the editor has known for more than 40 years.

Tisdale: Recession or no recession Saskatchewan is about the annual crop that gets planted and how it progresses until it is harvested. This year's crop is mostly planted and right in the Tisdale immediate area the crop is emerging from the grown to begin its preductive life.
