Black Fuzzball |

Harrison Ford's character in Star Wars referred to his sidekick Chewbaka, the Wokkie, as a "Fuzzball" and when I saw this little puppy at the auction sale yesterdaythat term seemed to immediately apply. The proud owner, who said that this little fella has been causing quite a stir as everyone they meet wants to check him out, explained that he is part Pekinese and part pomeranian. What ever the combination this is a funny little animal. Built in to our brain function is the mammalian instinct to want to adopt and look after young of any species but that feeling is expecially prompted by facial features. Our brains are tuned up to spot a baby face and automatically feel protective. So it is that animals with human-like faces, pouty nose and big eyes on a flat face produce this response almost to the same extent as would happen with a human baby, we are wired that way. In this little animal's life he will always be considered cute because unlike a human he will always be small and will appear baby-like with a face that everyone will love. |
