Dawn Lacey has recently completed a DVD of music and some of her poetry, and is preparing to make presentations of it in Saskatchewan. She's booked in at the:

    • Bookstop in Melfort on Thursday, Nov. 23, at 7.30 p.m.
    • Tisdale Library on Saturday, Nov. 25, at 3 p.m.
    • Morrison Library in Saskatoon
    • University of Regina.

The music is mostly, but not entirely, about Christmas. It's a story of one ordinary person's experience, told through the poetry and the songs, and illustrated with archival 8mm movie footage, videotape, still photography, and digital images. The importance of family and friends is a recurring theme. It's centred in Saskatchewan but has a lot of Yellowknife in it as well--not to mention England and Mexico. There's even a picture or two of Imperial and some of the denizens thereof, as well as Zenon Park and of course Melaval and Gravelbourg.

Dawn grew up at Melaval mid way between Åssiniboia and LaFleche attended college in Regina and married Steve, who like Dawn was both a teacher but also a folk musician. They lived for many years in Imperial Saskatchewan and were involved in Saskatchewan's folk festivals. They had three children who grew up and graduated from high school in Yellowknife. Their youngest, Bryan, is a U of Regina student wrapping up his film and video programme.

The Laceys were very much attached to this part of Saskatchewan with Steve's parents having lived in Zenon Park for many years then in Tisdale after they retired. Mrs. Lacey died in 1998 and Steve's father now lives in Melfort.
