The Best

FTLComm - Tisdale - March 13, 1999
Sometimes we have to make a decision and say this is good and this is not as good and I have been putting this off long enough looking for more examples. But today I thought it was time to issue the first three "Bests" in Tisdale. You are welcome to disagree with me but these three items come through time and again as excellent and well above other things.

The BeeSting, Zoerb's baker produces one of the few locally named and unique products in this community a sort of bun, very light, sliced in half with a filling of Dutch cream (a sort of custard) and topped with sliced almonds and a coat of honey. Each day the bakery whips out a bunch of these and each day they are gone by mid afternoon or sooner as folks who know about this delight snap them up. For two quarters you can munch on one of these and it will bring a smile to your face. They also make a jumbo version that is the size of a cake and it sells for $4.49 but there can be to much of a good thing.

The hamburger is a pretty competitive product and every eating establishment in town makes their version. The second best hamburger in Tisdale based on flavour and cost is the standard version served at the RecPlex for around $2.00 but the hamburger that makes all the rest seem like various forms of ground meat is Hannigans "Big Beef". Now this is not a cheap burger it is around $3.50 but it is the best. The hamburger comes with all the trimmings and a really great sauce but the main and most awesome thing is this burger is always consistently superior in taste. It is a charbroiled burger and king in Tisdale for flavour. In the picture you can see the bun is smaller then the meat patty and it doesn't matter when you order this baby it comes out the drive by window tasting just the same every time. I won't order one inside Hannigans because people smoke in there.

From time to time we have something we need to send to someone or someplace. We have several good services available for shipping goods the regular and reliable service offered by Saskatchewan Transportation Company with buses and truck delivery on time every day of the week, we have three courier services coming into the community but the service that beats all the competition is the least expensive and most reliable and that is our humble Canada Post service. There are often a lot of jokes about mail service for me it seems that if their is a disruption in the service by strikes or bad weather the post office is always able to get the bills into my mailbox on time but aside from that within Saskatchewan a service called Express Post really works. This service has a boast of two days anywhere in Canada but within Saskatchewan it as good or better then its boast and the service is inexpensive, less then half the cost of a courier and one third less then using the bus service.

So folks there are the first three Bests I have found in our community and I will add to the list as I find them. If you have some Bests you think people should know about let me know I will share them with our readers. Like where is the best lunch in Tisdale, (the Best lunch in the area is at the Ever Green in Nipawin), what is the best place to take you wife for supper, where can you get the best haircut, what hardware provides the best service, who is Tisdale's best plumber, which of our many pharmacies provides their customers with the best service and price? I look forward to hearing from you about the best.
