In the first week of December 2009 the small older house that stood on this lot was crushed and hauled away but the cement pad that served as the foundation for the building was left in place. May 10th this year the slab was removed and a basement dug.
In Tisdale with its clay base many houses are built on treated wood basements. In the last few years there has been a growing trend away from these quickly constructed basements to using foam forms and pouring cement basements. This seems to slow the projects down a bit as it usually takes about fifteen days extra to do a foam form concrete basement. This one was an exception. They opted for a concrete basement but really put the manpower and resources into the project and this foam form concrete basement was ready for a floor in about the same time as would normally been the case with a wood basement.
Working mostly with a two man crew the house has progressed quickly and is definitely going to be a credit to the neighbourhood situated only a block south of the Elementary School.
This morning McFadden's crane lifted the completed rafter structure into place atop the garage but work on the rafters for the main structure was just not safe with the rain falling throughout the day.
