The ninety-four unit Calab Village put a lot of pressure on housing construction in Tisdale but with the complex now about half occupied the demand for addition housing is still a part of the Tisdale market place and work has begun on a new duplex that completes the use of the land that was once TUCs playing field. I can still remember the town foreman confidently telling me that it is not something we would see in our lifetime, the building of housing units on all of that playing field. Back then with about six or seven new houses a year in Tisdale that prediction was reasonable but here we are in 2013 and the last lot is now under construction.

These duplex units are built with a crawl space beneath them but the living area is all on the one level which makes them outstanding accommodation and when one comes available for sale, be it new or formerly occupied it is not on the market for very long. Each unit comes with its own garage and are a real attribute to a neighbourhood as these condominiums look like single family dwellings.

The work site is remarkably dry and the whole process of putting in the footings for the new building has been done quickly.

The use of a crane and cement bucket made quick work today of pouring the cement for the building’s foundation. Since this project had been planned more than a year ago the water and sewer lines had been installed and it is to be hoped that there will be no need to dig up the street.

The framing of these duplex condominiums goes up quickly but since they are given excellent interiors it takes more than three months for the interior finishing to be completed on the units.
