Basements

FTLComm - Tisdale - Wednesday, August 3, 2005

Two Tisdale home owners have come up with similar solutions to two different problems.

The house above and on the right was sitting on a basement that was simply crumbling beneath it. This is not uncommon in Tisdale where the clay soil has a profoundly bad effect on concrete. In this case the home owner has raised the house and last Saturday rolled it off the basement and today was digging up the remains so that an entirely new system will be installed. Footings, basement and all.

The house below was like so

many others unable to keep the water from entering as it seeped in. About seventeen Tisdale homes will have the basements dug out and water proofing applied but this one is getting the full treatment. A new basement made of wood will replace the concrete walls on two side and the third will get "Blueskin" an excellent product that seals the wall making it water tight.

This is a huge project. After excavation the house had to be lifted and held in place while two existing walls were jack hammered out and construction has already begun as you can see above as the new wood structure is being installed.

We will show you pictures of our project when it is finished.
