Re: 1928 Model “A” 4-Door Leather Back
Owner: Paul Thompson

This model “A” Ford has undergone a complete restoration. This means that the car was completely dissenbled. Every body panel and part, nut and washer has either been replaced or refurbished. No fiberglass or substandard parts have been used. This car has had what is typically described as a complete “frame off” restoration. This has been thoroughly researched to establish that the proper parts specific to this year, model and date of production are accurate.

Body Proper
All of the metal work on this car has been completed to concours standard. Welding and hand-formed panels have been completed with the “butt-weld” method. Lap welds, which are prone to rust and failure, have not been used.

All metal has been completely stripped, acid etched and apoxy primed. Prmer surfasers and all body shop supplies used are of the highest quality. The major suppliers of product used on this car are 3-M, P.P.G. Ditzier. Paint was supplied by P.P.G. Ditzier.

Body Structure
The body structure on the Fordor Briggs car is primarily wood. all of the wood in the body proper has been replaced on this car. The original wood was used for patterns and accuracy. All the wood used in this car is clear “Red Oak”. Part of the wood was fabricated in-house. Other components supplied by Heritage Hardwood Products of Vernon, Missouri.

The body was assembled using correct nails, bolts and fasteners - i.e. correct for the 1928 Model “ Fordor Briggs.

Frame & Running Gear
The frame was completely stripped, sandblasted and refurbished to the proper semi-gloss black colour. In the rebuilding process the frame was put on a “frame table” to enable the frame to be aligned. A new cross-member was “hot riveted” into the structure as original.

All suspension, springs, shackles, king pins, shock etc. are new or completely refurbished to original factory specs or superior.

Power Train: Engine, Transmission & Differential
The engine has been completely re-built using new components of the highest quality. New pistons, rings, gaskets etc. have been used. Re-babbited main bearings are used and rods have been align-bored with moder precision engine re-building equipment.

The transmission and differential received the same precise care and re-building of components, new bearings, bushings, etc.

These components have been supplied by Le Baron Boney Co. of Amesbury, Ma. They are renowned for their concours quality interiors and are the choice of professional restorers.

The correct red steering wheel was supplied by Bob Drake in California. The gauges, headlights, cowl lamps, stone guard for the gril, horn, etc. were supplied by George Moir from Edmonton, Alberta or the Old Car Centre in langley, B.C. hey are well established and recognized as being suppliers of quality “new” Ford parts in Canada.
