Volkswagen during the eighties and nineties has continued to produce some excellent cars like theRabbitand Jettawhich, though more conventional in design have continued the tradition of durability and outstanding workmanship. But to push irony to the limit Volkswagen, the maker of the "people's car", the inexpensive, for everybody motoring gem, has just purchased the ultimate in expense and luxury, the English car maker,Rolls Royce.
