St. Matthew's 100th anniversary

FTLComm - Tisdale - Wednesday, October 4, 2006

Though Rev. T. Clark held services in Tisdale homes as early as 1902 and in the Robinson's Hall in 1903 it was in 1907 that the first St. Matthew's was built.

Through the years surrounding churches became part of the St. Matthew's community; St. Peter's Ridgedale, St. Laurence Leacross, St. John's Valparasio, The Church of the good Shepherd Eldersley, St. Mary's New Osgoode, St. Thomas Star City and the communities of Excelsior and Norwood.

To contribute to the celebration the church is attempting to gather as many pictures or memorabilia pretaining to the history of these churches with the hope that copies can be made for displays and a calendar. In particular it would be outstanding to get pictures of all the baptisms, confirmations and marriages possible that were performed in St. Matthew's over the century.

If you have some pictures contact Bernice Lawrence or Melody Hughes.

To celebrate this hundred years there is a registration tea planned for 2:00 to 5:00 in the St. Matthew's Hall on saturday, June 9th 2007. This will give everyone a chance to look over the displays and memorabilia. Then at 6:00 that evening a social, banquet with guest speaker and entertainment will be held at the Golden Age Centre.

On Sunday, June 10th at 10:30 will be the 100th Anniversary Church Service followed by a luncheon, picture and viewing of the displays.
