St. Matthew's spring sale

FTLComm - Tisdale - thursday, May 3, 2007

It was a few minutes before 9:00 this morning when I drove up to St. Matthew's Anglican church and this crowd had gathered to be the first to get into the annual spring rummage sale. This sale has the well earned reputation of being a quality sale with lots of bargains but also lots of really neat stuff.

I parked and waited until 9:00 then came to the doorway and was barely able to get in as the crowd had already swelled and the progress into the building was very slow indeed. The first item that caught my eye was a fabulous felt steson hat but alas it was black and since I don't have a mustache and would like to be identified with the white hat people I had to pass on that one. After cruising through the huge amount of goods I stepped into the lobby which held some big ticket furniture items and it was 9:20. At that point all of the chairs and tables had been sold.

Without a doubt the highlight of the sale was coffee and the absolutely fabulous date square that I had with it. Topped with a soft fluffy coating and definitely not to sweet this was reason enough to come to this sale. The sale continues until noon Saturday.
