FTLComm - Marysburg - July 21, 1998

Perhaps four families live at Marysburg two right across the grid road from the church, one in the former rectory and another on a nearby farm. But this was not always so. The cemetery was begun in 1903 as the community flourished and in 1920 the cornerstone for this magnificent structure, Assumption Roman Catholic Church was laid. Located on open Prairie East of Lake Lenore, North of Muenster and Humboldt. One wonders what wealth must have been in this countryside to build fabulous churches like this one, and in each of these communities only a few miles apart. While the other three still are inhabited Marysburg is this community hall and sports ground on the left and this place of worship.
