St. Paul's United Church to Expand Service

FTLComm - Tisdale - May 27, 1998

Responding to the needs of the active and dynamic church community the board has been active in seeking the addition of a second minister to share in the work load. Rev. Heather Anderson has found that all the time and energy she can pore into the charge is not enough and is looking forward to the expansion of the ministry of St. Pauls.

The role of minister or Priest to a religious community is a taxing one as churches today have extensive roles to play in the life of each community. Nipawin's United Church had enjoyed for some years the husband and wife team who worked tirelessly. After several years Rev. Ken Ansty found that the pressure was taking its toll on him and it was necessary for him to take a year off and rest. In discussing the role of a minister in a rural community Rev. Ansty explained the need to provide support to the members of the church, but in one year he was faced with a series of accidental deaths and he reached his limit. Ken and his wife have resumed their work in a Manitoba community.
Though this reporter visited with the members of the UCW who were meeting this afternoon, the pictures of their meeting did not turn out we will have to wait until another time to show you this vigorous group.
