As the chill of winter comes upon us, that is the busy time of the year for towing
services and automotive service companies that have service trucks to go and get
those vehicles with tired batteries going. Well this year, business is slow. For
the second winter the cold weather is considerably delayed and temperatures remain
not colder then -10. This is a rare situation for the Coop's service truck as it
was called out Wednesday afternoon to jump this service van that refused to start. We often do not realise the importance of these services until that cold snap occurs or we find ourselves buried in snow off of the road. When we lived in the Yukon I had a friend who as a part of his autobody shop had a mean old tow truck. When the tough weather of winter would arrive he would rub his fingers together as he looked at the snowy sky and say "recover dust" as such conditions that spelled disaster for Alaskan highway traffic were what he depended upon to earn his living. |
