On again

FTLComm - Tisdale - Thursday, September 27, 2007

It is almost a full two weeks since any meaningful harvesting has taken place around Tisdale even yesterday we had a very light shower but this afternoon just a mile east of town three combines were working in a Canola filed that has been on the ground for a month waiting to be processed.

One lady who has spent all of her life worrying about the weather as she has lived through more than sixty harvests said that we

need about two full weeks of fall to get things cleaned up.

This past two weeks of waiting and watching is hardest on the younger farmers even though they too have had their share of delayed harvests. This year is especially bad because the value of the crop is high and each day it lays or stands in the field it is worth less and less.
