A tractor in every field |

FTLComm - Tisdale - Wednesday, May 7, 2008 | |||||
I drove north of Tisdale this afternoon and was surprised to see either tractors in the fields or the fields already having been planted. No question, the farmers have decided to ignore the low temperatures and get the crop in the ground. Each day looks promising with sunshine and modest winds but the temperature just doesn't seem to come above 12ºC and most of the time its below 10ºC. So far the trees have shown little interest in budding into leaves and there is little |

new growth on the ground anywhere. But, and this is important, we haven't seen rain or snow falling for a couple of weeks and it just seems right to take advantage of the dry spell with the fields in excellent working condition to get the crop in the ground. At the present rate it looks like by this time next week the whole process will be finished. |
