We all know what has happened at the G8 Summit in Genoa. The leaders of the richest countries got together to shape the New World Order, and they have been complaining that their good work has been obscured by the media which has focused mostly its attention to the violence which sprang between police and demonstrators: cars were burned, properties destroyed, people and police were injured, many people were arrested and one young man died. |

As our society is becoming increasingly violent, we have on one side the political leaders who want to defend democracy with guns, while we have on another side the people who want democracy back from these same leaders. This is the way I see the root of violence in our society, a violent search for 'democracy' which is becoming more alien with the bureaucratization of business led by governments and transnational corporations. |

Carlo |
The name of the young man who died is Carlo Giuliani, a 23 year old student at the University of Genoa. The young man who pulled the trigger is Mario Placanica, a 21 year old conscripted carabiniere from Catanzaro, a city in the south of Italy. Carlo Giuliani was trying to throw a fire extinguisher against a military vehicle when he was killed by a bullet and run over. An investigation on Giuliani's death is underway and there are indications that Placanica shot Giuliani in self defense. |

This is our justice system, the search for the truth for who is right or wrong within the narrow focus of the 'Rule of Law' commanded by our alienated politicians. Young man Carlo Giuliani with the fire extinguisher in his hands represents the rebellious spirit of the anarchists and young man Mario Placanica with his gun in his hand represents the defenders of the New World Order. |

ideology |
As we are looking for the evidence to determine who is right or who is wrong we lose the perspective that two young men were put against each other against their own will, while our society continues to place ideology before human lives thus reinforcing the hegemonic democracy of the New World Order: the 'Survival of the Fittest.' |
