Bee gone Tisdale - Thursday, May 23, 2013 by:Timothy W. Shire
The town of Tisdale is moving along with its sale of the 7.8 acre area that for a very long time has been the site of Tisdale’s tourist booth, mini golf and excellent camp ground. The whole property has been sold to Regina developer Harvard Development Incorporated the company that owned CKCK had a big share in CTV and emerged from the McCallum Hill company that was so much involved in the development of Regina commercial and public real estate. If you check out the Tisdale web site there is a new release about the project which is interestingly completely devoid of details and news for that matter. At the top of this page you can see the scene at 8:21 AM on Friday, May 17, 2013 as the town crew have lifted the “Bee” from atop its Tisdale perch as they ready it for transport. The tourist booth was scooped up and hauled over to the Tisdale Museum yard in the fall and as the snow receded the mini golf was moved and the camp kitchen moved away. The camp kitchen is sitting with the Bee (below) over at the entrance to the McKay Kinsmen Park across from the gravel area that will be serving as Tisdale’s campground for this year.
Most of the picnic tables and other campground items are still piled at the former campground site while across from the McKay Kinsmen Park playground this washroom is taking shape. It doesn’t look like sewer will be dug into the area as a septic tank is sitting nearby awaiting installation. The pair of trout ponds have been beautifully landscaped adjacent to highway #3. This looks like a very nice development and certainly enhances this green portion of the community. It appears that the planning has taking into consideration the regular flooding of the area and built things to endure that indignity.
