New north perimeter road for Tisdale

FTLComm - Tisdale - Thursday, July 24, 2008

Construction is well underway on a new road that will provide access to the new developing area on the northwest corner of Tisdale. Service trucks and traffic into and out of the area had to trundel down Newmarket to get to and from the Forester Crescent area. This new road that follows the electric line north of town will open the area up.

The map below shows the area as it has been evolving over the past couple of years with houses now running up Newmarket and only a few lots on Forest undeveloped.

This construction project is an interesting cooperative project between the town of Tisdale and Cumberland Community College. The College wanted to offer a course in heavy equipment operation but needed a project to work on for practical work experience for its students.

The town needed a new road in the area so it was a perfect match and for the price of the fuel the town is getting its new road and the students at the college are getting the needed on the job work experience with the equipment to complete a project from start to finish.
