According to the President of the Tisdale and District Chamber of Commerce, James Leier,
“What I really like about this process is the number of people who were involved, including people in business, those who are not in business, people who live in Tisdale, and those who live in the region. This was a community wide process, from its formation through to the community meeting.”
Says Doug Hay, Director of economic development for the town of Tisdale and the Kelsey region,
“It becomes very apparent, when looking at the list of people who agreed to participate in the process as it moves forward that our community has lots of residents who want ‘kick up the economy’ another notch. Or more.”
Dwight Percy of Percy Communications in Saskatoon, who has extensive experience working with economic and community development groups throughout rural Saskatchewan, facilitated the process.
Each of the following initiative areas has a group of people working on it, all of which will report back to the “Team Tisdale” steering committee:
- Retail / Hotel
- Immigration
- Population Attraction
- Ethanol
- Health Services
- Resource Industry
- Investment attraction
The Steering Committee has assumed responsibility for communicating updates, key strategy initiatives and results to the community on an ongoing basis.
