FTLComm - Tisdale - June 12, 2000
As we mentioned last week, each summer the town replaces about seven or eight aging hydrants. Last Monday the crew were about to dig up a street but discovered that they were unable to shut off the line connecting to that hydrant and work on that project has been delayed.

This morning near the intersection just North of TMSS the street is being removed and a large excavation created. The material is hauled away as the old hydrant is dug down to the water line where it will be disconnected, a new one installed and a new water line to the hydrant put in place. Then fill will be brought in to replace the material removed, this new material is easily compressed gravel which is compacted and the street is restored.

Seven more of these to go.
