Tearing out the lake bottom

Regina - Tuesday, March 9, 2004 by: Doug Freestone

I was in Regina all day and at lunch time, we went out to see the reconstruction project.  I had not heard anything about it previously. Sometime last fall (I think) they drained the lake and proceeded to literally tear out the lake bottom and all the shoreline.  All the dirt is sitting in a giant berm just north east of the University campus.  Huge pile!!

Local story is they will be finished moving dirt by the end of March.  Good thing - those are the large 20-yd earthmover trucks and they need frozen ground.   Amazing project.
