Paul Martin is a hypocrite |

Paul Martin is a hypocrite! How can someone who has stifled debate in the House of Commons now go to any media interviewer who will listen, and say that he thinks parliament needs serious reforms? This is the same person who, as Finance Minister, decided to use time allocation on thirteen separate occasions to shut down debate. This is the same Member of Parliament who voted against opening debates on several subjects during his time in office (such as: sending troops to the Balkans, debating free trade zones in the Americas, etc.).

Some are saying that Mr. Martin had a change of heart, that because he is a regular MP, that he now understands the frustration and isolation from many government decisions. I would suggest that there are similar examples of anti-democratic activities, occurring at this moment, with Mr. Martin's claw marks all over them. The first example that comes to mind is the Liberal party's membership rules, closed and controlled by Paul Martin's cronies. If he truly wishes to engage the average citizen, should he not first relax his iron grip on his own party?

Canadians seem to think that Mr. Martin is going to be a perfect Prime Minister. I thinks as Canadians begin to scratch the surface, they will see what's underneath is not so wonderful.
