Yesterday I spotted Scott Brinklow taking his class on a walk around town making excellent use of the outstanding weather.
This afternoon this class was seen with checklists an clipboards in hand doing a walking tour of the central business district of their community.
So much can be achieved by getting out of the classroom and making use of the environment around the school. Though careful planning can establish the goals for such excursions the most important element is the unexpected. Students are by their very nature enormously inquisitive and a simple outing like this can throw new light on a scene a person has experience a thousand times and one of those "a-ha!" moments is priceless.
