Adjusting: always adjusting

FTLComm - Tisdale - Friday, November 15, 2002

Though the temperature was only -12 compared with yesterday's -21 the South wind seemed to make today conclusively cold.

There were plenty of people downtown this morning and the merchants are shifting gears as they replace the halloween candy displays with Christmas decorations.

I always view the arrival of the merchant greed rush toward Christmas with sadness. I realise that for many their profits for the year will be made or lost between now and January 1st yet some how the pig-back ride to profits on Christmas seems to have considerable distaste.

My guess is that it is all the way you look at things. For those who feel good when they look at a handful of money the world is considerably different then to my view of things as I see money as something less than wholesome.

The house below is mid way between the Co-op mall and main street and has both a Canadian flag and what once was a Saskatchewan flag. The poor ole Saskatchewan flag is less than half there whipping in the wind this morning and there is a certain wry similarity between the symbolism and reality as Saskatchewan is really less than half here with our towns and villages in the process of ruin and destruction, our roads and highways in tatters like that flag and the railway system that once hauled wealth now all but gone.

Perhaps it is the bleak and cold sky that bring a mood like this upon a cold individual, but it is Friday perhaps the weekend will allow spirits to rise and faces to smile once more.

Showing in Tisdale and Nipawin is the morbid horror movie "the Ring" in Melfort "Jack Ass the movie" and "I Spy ". Melfort movies are at seven and nine while movies begin in Tisdale and Melfort at eight.
