Tisdale toy and hobby show 2012
Tisdale - Wednesday, November 21, 2012

When the annual model, toy and hobby show first began some years ago about one third of the exhibits were models with another third toys and toy merchants and the rest being collectors showing off their troves and engaging in trading. Through the years the show has gradually shifted toward more collections and about half farm machinery and railway collections with only a few model builders displaying their handiwork. However, this shift seems unimportant because the show is still remarkable for the range of exhibits and the amazing articles both on display and for sale.

This year’s show had several collections that were museums on their own.
Wayne Styan’s amazing Tisdale archive is truly something to behold and his other collections are just as extensive. The Elvis Presley display took up the whole front of the Golden Age Senior’s Centre. The third display that captured my attention was a card and memorabilia collection which included scrapbook collections of Star Weekly and other periodicals of the day showing some of hockey’s all time greats.

The show really had something for everyone. I went with the intention of getting a few picture to share with you and had a hard time prying myself away from the exhibits and exhibitor over an hour later.

The proceeds of this and previous shows goes to the Tisdale Hospital and so far more than $17,000 has been raised.
