A Day for Baby Jadyn

FTLComm - Tisdale - Monday, August 28, 2006

A freak accident has threatened the life of an eight month old baby. Jadyn Dyke is now in hospital in Calgary where she is receiving special treatment to assist her body to repair the damage to her brain caused by inhaling a piece of popcorn and then suffering from lack of oxygen.

With the baby in hospital hundreds of miles away the costs to the family are really more than they or any family could cope with and the community pitched in to hold a special fund raising day in the Tisdale Town Square.

The event began at ten Saturday morning and right from the start the Town Square was jammed with people. Families and individuals of all ages came out to lend their support to the Dyke family. Tisdale and the surrounding area businesses got right into the spirit of the event by donating items for a silent auction and then there was a draw for other prizes. The food and the entertainment were all donated and the entertainment was absolutely first rate.

Local performers; Eve N'Adam, Jim Chute, J. J. LaClare and others took to the stage and put on an outstanding show. The headliner of the event that went from ten until five in the late afternoon was Western Canada Country Music awarded winner Codie Prevost who did two sets and donated the money from the sale of his CDs to the Jadyn fund. The video shown on this page is a two minute teaser (QuickTime is needed to see the video shown here) of the morning show. These clips were cut from the live performance DVD of 15 minutes and it is exceptional. If you would like a copy of the live performance or just make a donation to the fund contact Jeanette Lykken at 306 873-2225.
