Around Town

FTLComm - Tisdale - Sunday, September 23, 2001

A pleasant Sunday morning in Tisdale Saskatchewan as a 12 knot wind blows warm air from the South and there is not a single cloud in the sky.

The leaves will soon all blow away but this guy will remain on guard duty protecting his yard, his family and his domain with unswerving diligence. This is one of those unusual animals with gray eyes. His pure white coat and near colourless eyes give him a definite ghostly appearance.

Each year Mr. Crochaine dutifully plants seeds from last year's giant sunflowers and they obligingly claw toward the sky. This years

sentinels tower above his cleaned up garden looking a bit forlorn after having been exposed to at least two nights of frost in a row. But you can be assured that next year at this time another group of these plants offspring will be standing looking just as out of place as these ones do.

Bruce Schapansky's Auction sign just East of town is flying "Ole Glory" in a tribute to the tragic attack upon our Southern neighbour. The impact of this tragedy seems as real and imposing here in Tisdale as it does on anyone anywhere
