La Ronge in January 2006

FTLComm - LaRonge - Wednesday, January 25, 2006

The twenty pictures in this collection were taken Saturday, Sunday and Monday of this past weekend. They begin with steam rising from the BigStone river as it pours into Lac LaRonge then continues with an image of a giant set of figures on the beach in this Northern Saskatchewan community.

The beached tug boat and barg are something of a mystery to me but no doubt there is a logical explanation.

As we looked out over the vast expanse of ice and snow a sequence of pictures illustrate the enormous part played in life in this community by snow machines.

The last three pictures show the scene Monday morning with temperatures rising and the trees south of la Ronge covered with snow and frost.
