Hudson Bay Regional Park
FTLComm - Hudson Bay - Friday, May 27, 2011

Most of know about the provincial parks and certainly have heard about the National Parks but Saskatchewan's regional parks are local community operated places and though they mentioned in the province's outstanding reference guide there is not a regional booklet available at this time, most of just don't realise what gems many of these parks are. We have put this guide and the Provincial Park guide plus the Saskatchewan road map in PDF form into our iPad in iBooks so we have the whole story with us without a lot of paper to deal with.

This past weekend we first dropped in at
Greenwater Lake Provincial Park but it was late and the streets and roads in the park are a mess so we spent last Friday night in Kelvington, then Saturday night in Preeceville's campground. Sunday we went to Hudson Bay and we were amazed at the outstanding park that is on the south side of the community.

This park is a whole package from golf course to hiking and fishing and everything in between. Our primary focus was on the campground and the pictures with this story show what a great place to pitch a tent, park a trailer or in our case park a motorhome. We are completely self contained so we did not need the 30 amp or 15 amp power sites but we did make use of the dump site before we left Monday morning.

The surroundings are almost storybook with the main campsite above a bend in the
Fir River but the large park also has two other rivers and a small lake.

Though surroundings and facilities are nice the real plus where ever you go are the people and this remarkable regional park is really looked after well. This is bear country and the garbage is collected every single day so that it is immaculate and is kept that way year round. The staff were friendly and helpful so that one would have to look really hard to find an excuse not to come back.
