Jessica Lake, Whiteshell Provincial Park

There is a kind of boldness and starkness to both the light and scenery in Canada's Precambian Shield. Artists have marvelled at the beauty of what is usually just called Northern Canada, and they have tried to capture that beauty in paintings, film and photography. Clearly, Andrew was struck by what he saw on the eastern edge of the province of Manitoba and in his photo essay below you can sense the power of these images and the scenery.

Andrew took these pictures yesterday while we in Saskatchewan were depressed with an overcast sky Andrew on the day before the fall equinox was able to get a sunburn.

The Google earth images in this set of pictures are intended to give you some idea about the location of this park and also to show something of the terrain. You might want to check out the web site for the
Whiteshell Provincial park or for the Jessica Lake Lodge where these images were taken.
