FTLComm - Tisdale - September 25, 1998
Not only did the calendar mark the coming of fall but the fall equinox was marked with this sky harbinger of things to come. Low temperatures aloft and unsettled moisture laden air produces these distinctive autumnal cumulous layers but they are also enhanced by the low angle of intense early evening light. These pictures were taken at the Tisdale Mall parking lot looking North East at just after six Thursday and the picture below a few minutes earlier on the West side of town looking East. Check out the satallite image below for more details.

Thanks to CNN for the image above taken early Thursday morning. The low pressure area located over Alberta gave us the moisture and it is tracking along the blue markings above, but the flow of damp unstable air will continue giving us periods of cloud over the next couple of days and some showers. The quasi-stationary front that marks the line between winter and the rest of the world is just above the big "L" in the image still holding its chilly position just North of the 60th parrallel (Saskatchewan's border with the NorthWest Territories)

Editor's note:
The image above comes originally from CNN but appears automatically on my computer as it downloads this and other daily news from PointCast at 8:30AM each day. PointCast is a free news service that you can customise to suit your needs and interests. It is a form of "push" technology where you receive information from various world news services in return the service runs a string of advertising on part of your screen when you view the information. The material can also be your screen saver when you are not working with your computer. I download once a day and it takes about six to twelve minutes each day to update the various services I have selected. This service is available for all computer platforms and satisfies the needs for a news junky. There is a Canadian version of PointCast available for Windows users but not for Macintosh users.
