The Post Napster Era of Software

While the patient is not completely dead, the discussions about pulling the plug are going on in earnest! Get ready everyone, Napster, whether we like it or not, is dying!

I tried to get some music from Napster the other day and it was as easy as I imagine it would be like to put a tuxedo on my cat. I tried all kinds of different things and ended up with nothing.

Goodbye old friend!

Now my wife asked me the question that almost every wife asks, "If I die would you marry again"?

My answer, "Never"!

I am not that close to Napster!!!!

I want my Music and I want it FREE!!!

Fight the POWER!!!!!!

Whew! I think I burst a blood vessel there!!

The MP3 world has lost a good friend, but we are not crying, we are getting on with our lives. There is lots of music downloading partners to choose from and after careful reading, thinking and planning, and in three cases actual using, I have made my decision.I picked LimeWire (www.limewire.com)!

Here's why LimeWire is my choice:
  • No advertisements all over the place.

  • It does not try and load it's own toolbar to very window that you open.

  • Faster Downloads.

  • Easier to get along with all around.

  • I run Norton Internet Security for obvious reasons, and LimeWire got along with my firewall and that means better security.

  • More simultaneous Downloads.

  • More simultaneous searches.

  • Easier to use and understand interface.

  • It resumes searches and downloads where you left off.

  • Plus looks do count!!

I tried I-mesh a very popular (over 10 million users according to CNet) program, and it was pretty good mechanically but as you can see from the list above it was not as good as LimeWire. When I installed I-Mesh (http://www.imesh.com/), my security software went nuts; this is a bad sign if you are worried about security issues. In fact if you were going to use LimeWire, I would recommend turning your security software off until you are up and running and then turning your security software back on once you are finished!!

I also tried Audio Galaxy ( http://www.audiogalaxy.com/ ), I hate programs that want to run resident every time you start your computer, all of the Music Download programs want to do this, Audio Galaxy is no exception, it really tried to take over the computer, and feed you advertisement after advertisement. Yuck!! The other thing that Audio Galaxy and I-Mesh do is they follow you around keeping track of your web browsing habits. NO THANK YOU!!!!!!

I am using the LimeWire Beta and I could not be happier!!! Well.I could be.if only.. Napster was back!

Oh and LimeWire lets you search for and share, Videos, Programs, Pictures and more.

Out with the old and get used to the new!!!!
