A lion, yes a very cold lion

Canadians, be they originals, or newcomers all like to smirk and toss out the charming "cold enough for yuh?" greeting. But the winter of 2013 - 14 has been a chilly one and the kids who have come through this one will have stories to tell their grandchildren about the deep freeze of January and February 2014.

Though it looks like we will be spared the usual howling storm that often is associated with March arriving like a lion with the temperature well below -30ºC and enough wind to have Environment Canada declare severe weather conditions for Saskatchewan, Manitoba and part of Alberta, this, is definitely a lion.

As age creeps up on us all the harsh low temperatures have a distinctive deterrent for venturing outside. It's just a quick dash from the door to the car which has already been warmed up. So many of you will be like me and beginning to show some signs of stress. Yes folks March is not only the month when we place our hopes that maybe we will have an early spring but, it is also the time when cabin fever puts its confusing scarf around your old neck.
