Saturday Morning # -415

FTLComm - Tisdale - Saturday, August 17, 2002

Glum looking don't you think? The picture above was taken around 4:30 yesterday afternoon there had been a little rain and the threat of more with even the possibility of frost last night. But as it turned out the weather forecasters are about as accurate as if you toss a coin and it never dropped below 9ºC through the night.

Now if I am average and all things add up to being close to average my calculation is that I have 415 Saturdays left. We all are told and should try to understand that indeed our days are

numbered but just how many of those days can we count on, presuming indeed that we fall into the "average" category.

Given that I really like Saturday, always have ever since my dad was on strike to gain the five day work week and won that precious right to not work on Saturday. I figure I had better make the best of number 416.

Despite the wet conditions the fellow above was cleaning up some trees in his yard and speaking of trees the crab apple trees seem to be several

weeks early this year as they are filling out nicely. They were late to bloom but that heat of mid summer may have advanced them quicker.

Here is a nice little nook by a house here in town, a simple but inviting patio enhanced by the full trees nearby.

But the house below begs that I say "there's no place like gnome" Guarding their walk are neat little troop of dwarves and other solid objects. As you can see with these pictures this morning the sun was coming and going.

Pure poison, the leaves of the rhubarb plant are bad medicine but the stocks pure delight. This plant has a curious set of red leaves which makes them a decoration in this yard as well as a supply of stocks for rhubarb pie and jam.

The yard and garage sale season is pretty much over but this family (below) have bucked the trend and the weather as well by setting up some canvas to protect the merchandise as they are holding their sale this morning
