FTLComm - Tisdale - May 19, 2000
With remarkably little in relief our landscape might seem monotonous to those who have grown up elsewhere but to we the people of the great central plains, it seems as though we are just a bit closer to heaven. In Texas, Oklahoma, Nebraska, the Dakotas, Manitoba, Saskatchewan and Alberta, we all share the unrestricted view of the atmosphere as we seem immersed in it enveloped in its complete domination of our visual plain.

This morning is truly remarkable. There were light showers over night and this morning the Southwest wind is blowing warm damp air across a warming land. The scent this morning is that of growth of aromas of promise. Since I can not bring you the smell you must settle for the view. About two miles North of Tisdale I pulled the van off into a field and shot these images. Above we are looking Southeast and the large structure on the horizon is the Harvest Valley Pool elevator.

Below is a QuickTime VR panorama that was shot to feature the sky. High wispy clouds from the South wind and low forming cumulus that will bring afternoon showers. To the Northeast we are looking under the edge of a tower cumulus cloud as it passes off into the distance.
When I returned to town at 9:30 the normal rumble of trucks up and down main street and the business of preparing for a long weekend. A camper at the Shell station and a family off for a jaunt across town, all part of the scene.
