The Second Day

FTLComm - Tisdale - January 2, 2001
This morning had the general appearance of gloomy day but the overcast sky and the light snow that had fallen over night were only the insulation that had allowed mid winter temperatures to creep upward to the balmy near zero range.

January 1 has become a very important day in our family. When once we were all able to share Christmas and New Years with each other each of us have our own families and we have reserved Christmas for that celebration and this year we were all together to share stories of the past year, share a turkey and delight in each other's worlds. As we sat around the table my sister played a game she had borrowed from a TV show and asked us each the highlights and things we had each learned from the year past. From the mundane to the romantic each of us had a chance to assess the last year of the century and determine what we were looking forward to in this new year and the coming years that will surely follow.

Late in the evening cars left for their homes in Yorkton and Kelliher and the Regina folks stayed the night. By eleven, (seen below) the sun was out and the car was cleaned off as another journey was about to begin.

As we travel both from place to place but also in time we must observe from moment to moment where we have been and where we are going. With in our family and within our world we have to see things with perspective. Some of us about to go off to dance around the world, another to work her way through a coming college semester, while others migrate to Bushland to visit relatives. We each have tasks and challenges before us and once again we will assemble around a table and share the year with each other in three-hundred sixty five days time.
