----Christmas Cactus

FTLComm - Weekes - December 19, 1999

The Pontceta has become so associated with Christmas even though it gains is colour not from a flower but from discolouration of its leaves. In many homes the "real" Christmas flower is the Christmas Cactus which gets around to showing some wonderful colour in late November and into December.

This dandy (seen at the top of the page) is how Pauline Lindenbach's Christmas Cactus looked about a month ago with no less then two hundred and eighteen blossoms. Now in late December it is once again budding up to produce its second display of the year as its new blossoms are emerging in time for Christmas 1999.

These are outstanding house plants, easy to care for and able to handle considerable neglect. However to get one to perform like this I am certain that it takes a lot of look discussions on looking your best.
