Flowers a beautiful messenger
Tisdale - Thursday, May 30, 2013

The whole idea nature had with flowers is basic advertising with the added bonus of providing some value added as well as sending a message. Flowers are designed to attract insects and other creatures who will check them out and by so doing, assist the plant with spreading the biological material that will assist in reproduction. The concept is simple and multi-media as flowers have colour and design that is appealing and in most cases an aroma that goes beyond vision. The whole business works extremely well and remarkably we humans get to enjoy the wonders of plants to the fullest.

Only Friday, May 24 we dropped into the
Four Seasons Greenhouse west of Tisdale as we do each year and just as is the case every other year I walk out of there with a smile on my face. I simply can’t help it. Just as in the poem “my heart leaps up when I behold a rainbow in the sky,” well the same thing happens with flowers. I am sure I am not alone and other people find themselves lifted by the visual and smell of these blessings of the plant kingdom. No wonder that florists are such a part of our society and people routinely give flowers as gifts and even uses them as a tribute to a life when it ends.

So, just in case you haven’t been hiding out in a green house this year, here are some images of flowers that might just be a message that lightens your day.
