President
Bj Madsen welcomed ten members to the October 25 meeting of the
Parkland Photo Club held in the
Doghide Gallery in Tisdale. Secretary-Treasurer,
Darlene McCullough, presented some information regarding the photography workshops to be held in April hosted by the
Regina Shutterbugs photo club.
Competitions Chairperson,
Anne McIntosh, read the judges' comments on each of the ten entries our club members submitted to the
Foto Run Competition hosted by the
Gleneath Camera Club in
Kindersely. Four of our club members -
Neil Anderson,
Lia Boxall,
Gerry McLellan, and
Sharon Walker - each received a certificate for earning an honourable mention. Anne has submitted the six entries that she received from the club members for this year's competition.
There was some discussion as to ideas and suggestions of what could be included in a workshop on black and white photography for our November meeting. Some ideas were how to get black and white conversion in the computer as well as in the camera when one shoots in colour, and some special effects that could be used.
The main activity for the evening was a show and tell regarding the 8 X 10 enlargements of their work that the members had chosen to show and discuss at this meeting. It was most interesting to see the various subjects and varied comments as to why each photo had been selected by the photographer. Eight possible places where our photos might be displayed were mentioned and since the members had found this activity to be useful and we would require a large number of enlargements for this project, it was decided to continue with this activity for the next meeting. Each member is asked to bring either an 8 x 10 or an 11 x 14 enlargement and these will be presented and discussed.
Bj reported that the North-East Newcomers were planning a supper on November 22. He would like the club members to submit images of Saskatchewan to him as soon as possible and no later than November 15 and he will put these into a slide show presentation to be shown at the supper.
The theme shoot topic for this meeting was
"Solitude" and there were ten entries. First place went to
Cindy Neilsen, second place to
Don Barbour and third place to
Albert Orban. While the tabulation of the voting was being done,
Anne McIntosh shared some of her entries in the photographic section of the
Wild Life Competition held in
Prairieland Park in
Saskatoon last weekend. Both
Anne and
Sharon Walker took home ribbons and had an excellent showing.
Thanks to
Anne McIntosh for supplying the lunch for this meeting.
The next meeting will be held on Tuesday, November 22 at 7 PM in the
Doghide Gallery in Tisdale. Anyone interested in photography is invited to attend!
