Thirteen members of the Parkland Photography Club met in the Doghide Gallery in Tisdale on November 22 with President Bj Madsen chairing the meeting. He stated how pleased he was with the media coverage that the club was now enjoying.

The public can see our reports and some of our photos in The Parkland Review or the Tisdale Recorder and The Northeast Sun, as well as view the club news on the web sites of North-Central Internet News as well as the Parkland Photography Club web site. The club members are thankful for the encouragement that this media coverage gives them.

Availability of display space for some of their photos is looking very promising as the club continues to investigate the possibility of having a rotating display. Gerry McLellan is investigating the availability and prices for some matts and frames for enlargements so that the switching of photos would be kept quite simple.

Another session of members showing and telling about one of their favorite photos enlarged to 8 x 10 again proved to be very interesting and beneficial as these photos were discussed.. Since the club will require a lot of enlargements for the planned rotating display, it was decided that there would be another such session at the January meeting.

President Bj reported that he had received over 150 images of Saskatchewan from the club members. He will be displaying a slide show of these images at the NewComer supper event on Sunday, November 27.

The images taken at the Tisdale Museum shoot last spring were projected and it was reported that the museum committee were pleased with the images and they are planning to have a calendar made including some of them. It was interesting to note that though there were a few images of the entire car, most of the images were of close-ups of details on the car . The museum committee said that they would be willing to have the club shoot photos there again in the future so this will be considered as a possible photo shoot location.

There were ten entries in the theme shoot "opposites" . Some members included the opposites in one photo but the use of two photos was also permitted. First place went to Neil Anderson for his red and green apples; second place to Gerry McLellan for his reflection photo, and there was a tie for third place between Wendy Derbowka's photo of two wine glasses on different coloured backgrounds with one upside down and Darlene McCullough's photos of churches in Russia, one colourless and one colourful.

Thanks to the Anderson family for supplying the lunch for this meeting.

Since this is the final meeting of the club for this calendar year, they would like to take this opportunity to thank the faithful readers of these reports. Your comments are much appreciated. Have a happy and healthy Christmas as you spend time with family and friends!

The next meeting of the Parkland Photography Club will be on Tuesday, January 24, 2012.
