On Tuesday, May 22, President Bj Madsen welcomed ten members of the Parkland Photography Club to the last meeting of the year.

Darlene McCullough, secretary-treasurer of the club, reported that she had sent the necessary material to other members so that they could take over these duties next year. Daylene Wallington will become the secretary, Albert Orban will take over as treasurer, and Bj Madsen will write the media releases.

Stephanie Pipke-Painchaud reported that the framed prints on display in the library look very good and there have been many positive comments about them. They are in the adult reading section so you are invited to check them out the next time you are at the library.

Five members of the club attended the photo shoot at the museum and took loads of photos. The members attending this meeting viewed these images and they will now be transferred to a CD and given to the museum committee for their consideration when they select images to use for the calendar that they are planning to have printed. Another photo shoot at the museum is planned for June when some outdoor shots will be taken when the surroundings are more attractive.

On Friday and Saturday, May 25 and 26, the club members have been asked to take photos at the Relay for Life hosted in Tisdale this year. Since the event will be held indoors, it will be more challenging to get great shots but the members will try to cover all aspects of this event.

Gerry McLellan purchased five more frames for 11 by 14 photos so the members selected prints to put into those so they are now ready for display. The extra prints on hand will be kept and switched into of the frames once the prints now on display have been up for a couple of months.

The theme shoot for this month was "One of a Kind" and it made for an interesting display of entries. There were eight entries with first place going to Albert Orban for a collection of sand creations; second place to Bj Madsen for his boot-shaped downspout (above right) and third place to Anne McIntosh for her photo of an unusual quilt pattern.

Outgoing president Bj Madsen presented longtime member Darlene McCullough with a plaque to thank her for the many years she has dedicated to the activities of the photo club. With a few words of thanks, Darlene then invited the members to join her in enjoying a piece of cake kindly provided by the incoming president, Cindy Neilson.

The first meeting of the Parkland Photography Club in the fall will be held on September 25 at 7:00 PM in the Doghide Gallery in Tisdale. If you have an interest in photography, you are invited to attend. It is a hobby which you can enjoy for your entire life.

Have a great summer!!!
