The meeting was opened by President Cindy Neilsen at 7:00 at the TMSS art room with 10 members present. Glen Galloway, whom we hadn’t seen for some time, renewed his membership as well.

The Club FaceBook page was discussed. It has been up for a couple of months and members have started to contribute to it. It seems to be working well and serves a good purpose of allowing us to share photos and comments on an ongoing basis, as well as a venue for posting the
Theme Shoot results. Also, the meeting minutes and agenda are posted. Members were once again assured that only the membership has access to these images.

The upcoming
Shutter Bug show was discussed. The pictures will be hung in the library and can remain on display for two months. The plan is to hang the display at the next (March 25) meeting. Each member should bring three to five pictures, framed and ready to hang with wires for hanging on the back of each frame. Sizes should be 8 x 10 or larger. Members should also bring unframed pictures to display, as the club now had a number of frames for general use. Cindy will purchase a guest register book to have in place during the show. Cindy will ask Don to print name tags that can be used for each photograph. Advertising should be done in both Melfort and Tisdale and posters should be hung at least two weeks before the show.

The
Spring Get Together with Geoff Payton was presented by Anne. It will take place in the Hanover Room on Saturday, April 26 from 1:00 - 5:00 pm. Each club should plan to bring 50 to 100 pictures so each member should select and bring five to ten photos for the event. The club will provide snacks in the form of cookies and squares. During the April 22 meeting, members might plan to stay a bit later than usual to put together photographs on a CD, or flash drive, in anticipation of the upcoming event. Members should prepare a description of their photos if they are unable to be at the display. Additional planning will be done at the March meeting.

Anne, Don and Cindy did the judging of the Foto Fun photographs and these were presented to the club, along with the scores and comments that they had generated.

The
Theme Shoot photos were displayed on the screen and discussed. The theme for this was “Before and After” and generated some interesting solutions. Most demonstrated post-production techniques using computer software such as “LightRoom” and “Print Shop” to clean up and enhance images, but a couple of members took a different slant. Lia’s before picture was of a very cold, making a skating rink image and her after was taken in the ocean in Mexico.

The three chosen for display were:
Wendy Derbowka - “Snow Jellyroll” - an amazing effect of a roll of snow.
Vic Goos - “Snow Drift” - an excellent display of light and shadow on a snowbank.
Bj. Madsen - “Squirrel” - a winter visitor enjoying a free lunch.

All of these photos came as a before and after set, where the after photo was visually enhanced by computer software.

Tisdale born photographer,
Paul Nicklen, who is now a very famous and successful photographer for “National Geographic” was discussed. Much of his work can be seen on the Internet and there are TED talks by him available as well.

Albert brought the latest calendar which was made by the Tisdale Museum. It features photographs that have been taken by the Parkland Photography Club.

Remember:
The next meeting will be on March 25
- come at 6:30 to the Library (not the Art Room).
The Theme Shoot theme for this month will be
“Experimental Light Effects”

The meeting adjourned at about 8:30 pm.
