Meeting of September 23, 2014
The first meeting of the 2014 - 2015 club year was held in the TMSS art room, chaired by President Cindy Neilsen with six members present.
From the May, 2014 meeting, certain decisions were confirmed:
The Club Photo Shoot, held on Tisdale’s walking trails on June 17 was discussed.
Treasurer Albert reported that we are still solvent, with assets in the bank. He suggested that we operate on a purely cash basis to avoid the inconvenience of using cheques and the bank, which requires two members for transactions. It was suggested that we leave the bank balance as is and keep any incoming funds from dues as cash.
The possibility of doing a rotating, continuing display at the new Medical Centre was discussed in some detail. It was decided that, before we can make such a long-term undertaking we will need to have a commitment from the whole membership. It will be decided at the next meeting where, hopefully, we will have a full membership present.
Cindy presented information on a project of the Melfort Library entitled “Get Caught Reading in Melfort” It involves photographs submitted of someone reading something. Photos can be submitted between September 24 - October 14 and prizes will be awarded during Library Week of October 18 - 25. The club was asked to send a judge (not from Melfort) to choose a winner. Bj. offered to do this. Cindy will inform him of the details.
Anne reported on Melfort’s “Arts and Culture Days” which will feature a photo display during this weekend. Members brought photographs for her to use for this display.
She also reported on the annual “Foto Fun” event. She requires a JPEG photograph from each of us before October 15. They must be photographs taken in Saskatchewan during the past year. We need a minimum of five photos to qualify as a club entry.
Stephanie showed us projected images from the FaceBook page, displaying samples of photos taken during the June 17 shoot, as well as postings which had been made to FaceBook by members.
This month’s theme was “Abandoned”, and several good examples were displayed to support this theme. Of particular note was Don Barbour’s photo of the abandoned and soon to be demolished Tisdale mall, Trena Eskra’s photo of an abandoned farm house and Anne McIntosh’s abandoned church from north of Brooksby.
Next meeting’s theme will be “CloseUps”. Please post your entries to the FaceBook page, or bring them to the next meeting.
Also, next month, please bring some photos which can be used to update the display board in the hospital lobby.

From the May, 2014 meeting, certain decisions were confirmed:
- We will not publish a newsletter. Stephanie has created a FaceBook page which has full public access. It can be accessed at http://www.facebook.com/ppc.sask . It will accept uploads from members, but not from the general public. You will need to be Stephanie’s “friend” in order to gain access.
- The “point system” previously used for members’ achievement will be dropped.
- The TMSS art room will continue to be available to us for $20 per session.
- We will institute a “show and tell” program where members bring photographs for discussion.
- Raising money with projects such as a calendar project was rejected. Instead, funds will be raised money from the membership fee, which will be $35 per year for individuals and $50 per year for families.
