QuAppelle Valley crocuses are up

Que Appelle Valley - Wednesday, April 7, 2010  Images by: Ken Jones

Almost a full month early this year Ken Jones of Regina was two miles west on Highway 99 of the junction with Highway 6, about 16 miles North of Regina in the QuAppelle Valley, when he captured this year's pictures of crocuses. It was near 6:00 in the afternoon of Monday, April 5th when these pictures were taken.

Ken told me this evening that it is really dry throughout all of Southern Saskatchewan and that spring planting is well on its way in the Maple Creek area. Ken was alarmed that last week he was pulling up dandy lions in his yard on Victoria Avenue in Regina.

Ken said that spring is not only three weeks early in Saskatchewan but seems to be well ahead of itself right across the country and noted the it has been hot in the Halifax area of Nova Scotia.
