FTLComm - Tisdale - May 24, 1999 | |||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||
Nicole Bromm (below)
and Stephanie Will are two of the pool attendants and instructors this year at the
Tisdale Pool. With cloud and occassional rain the pool opened Friday but there were
still hardy souls who were there to take the plung. On Sunday afternoon when these
pictures were taken you can see that there were lots of swimmers enjoying the beginning
of another pool season. There have been some reduction in full time workers, though over all the same number of people are working at the pool this year, it is just that most are only getting "part time" work. I personally wonder at how we can expect our young people to continue their post secondary education while only offering them "part time" summer employment. College tuition is rising ten times faster then the inflation rate and cutbacks with summer employment would seem extra-ordinarily counter productive to our society as a whole. It is our young people, and the education they obtain on which our economy depends. Below is May 21 - June 25 pool schedule. |
