Monday afternoon the 2003-04 curling season got under way as the senior's afternoon league began operation. This league had twenty-four teams last year but is down to sixteen this season. Various reasons have been given for the reduced numbers but the enthusiasm is still there for those curling this year.

It was on October 9
 
 

that these pictures were taken of the surface being prepared. A coat of water based white paint is being applied to the cold surface and freezes in place as volunteers were on hand to get the job done after the hockey game.

For players with problems kneeling to deliver this alternative broom handle delivery is seen in use here (below) but is not something can be utilised in competitive curling.
