Tisdale Carpet Bowlers bring home bronze |

FTLComm - Tisdale - Friday, September 10, 2004 | ||||||||||
Ever
since the opening of the Golden Age Centre and even before Tisdale had an
active and competitive senior's carpet bowling league and year after year have place
at the top or near the top in provincial competition. This year the representatives
of the Tisdale club, Elsie Patrosh, Tibby Frazer, Helen Hucaluk
and Joan Brown went to a whole new level by winning the provincial championship
then going on to represent the province in the Canada Senior Games held in
Whitehorse this week. On Tuesday they captured the bronze medal for Saskatchewan
and won the admiration and recognition of their fellow bowlers. After today's games
the club paid tribute to the team with a special cake, flowers, a bracelet and candle. They traveled to Whitehorse two in one bus and two in another in their two day trip (one way) stopping only briefly along the way and then they were involved in the activities of the games. The weather was a little chilly as it always is this time of the year in Whitehorse and there was a little snow. They were so busy they had little opportunity to take in the sights but were proud of their role as part of the enthusiastic and sportsmanlike Saskatchewan team. The Games recognised Saskatchewan for lifting the event with their good spirts and were presented with a plaque. (The picture above is of the parade of participants and was front page on the Whitehorse Daily Star) But for the folks in the club the foursome made everyone proud and it was great to celebrate the event this afternoon.
